What Are Dental Implants?
If you are missing teeth, dental implants are often the most effective solution. A dental implant is a titanium screw, sometimes called a post, that replaces the root of a missing tooth and is topped by a porcelain crown. The result? You have a beautiful new tooth that looks and functions like the real thing. Call our friendly team in Boone, NC, today to learn more and schedule a complimentary consultation!
The Implant Process
Getting a dental implant takes time and a careful, thorough process. However, our expert team is here to guide you through, safely and comfortably. Once you’re done, you’ll have a beautiful replacement tooth and an implant that can last a lifetime!
If you’ve been missing teeth for a while, your jawbone may need extra support. Your dentist or an oral surgeon will perform a simple bone graft to make your jaw ready to receive implants.
Your dentist will gently insert slender titanium screws called posts into your jawbone. These are the actual implants and will later be topped with crowns. Don’t worry — you’ll be sedated.
Your jaw will typically need four to six months to recover from the implant placement. During this time, you should feel little to no discomfort.
Once your jaw is ready to go, your dentist will attach titanium abutments to your implants. These provide a foundation for the crowns that will go on next.
Finally, your dentist will top your implants with beautiful porcelain crowns that will look and feel like real teeth!
Why Dental Implants?
